Infrared Converted Canon 1100D Manual

Here we have infrared converted Canon 1100D. How to take infrared pictures with this camera.

First, we must set the white balance. This is done by taking a picture of a gray card or whatever object we want.

Then we go to menu second tab and click custom white balance.

There, we will see our image. Press OK.

Sometimes, it will show an error that it can’t obtain correct information from the image (usually happens with 850nm converted camera).

That’s okay, as it will still use that image for white balance.

Now we will set exposure compensation to +1 for 720nm, 590nm or to +2 if the camera is converted to 850nm.

We also need to change the camera settings to Custom White balance. It is the down arrow key, and the setting we need looks like two triangles.

What are good lenses for infrared photography?

The lens 18-55mm that comes as a kit lens is good for infrared photography.
The famous 50mm 1.8 lens is noticeably better, giving far more contrast.
The Canon 60mm EF-S 2.8 Macro lens is simply outstanding for infrared photography.
The Canon 55-250 EF-S IS II is also very good.
